The typical learner who will enroll for this Higher Certificate will either be employed by short-term insurance companies or insurance brokers. This course will specifically fulfill the Insurance Institutes' requirement for membership on a general membership level. Learners not presently employed in the insurance industry, but who may want to obtain the credits attached to the Higher Certificate in order to obtain employment in the insurance industry will also benefit from enrolling for the qualification. The Higher Certificate enhances the employability of learners in the sense that the successful completion of the certificate enables them to become short-term insurance practitioners with a good introductory understanding of the legal framework within which short-term insurance business is conducted, commercial insurance products and practices, transportation insurance, and risk management. In addition, all intermediaries in the insurance industry who offer 'advice' on products need to be in possession of suitable academic qualifications and this Higher Certificate is in line with part of such requirements.
Qualification is offered until 2023, and ONLY for students previously registered for this qualification.
