Five South Africans will be taking to the track on Tuesday at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. Here is what you need to know.

After delivering an outstanding performance in the men’s 400m heats with a time of 44.57 seconds, Wayde van Niekerk, alongside compatriot Zakithi Nene, will compete in the semi-finals on Tuesday evening at 9pm.

At 6:40pm, Marione Fourie and Taylon Bieldt will compete in the 100m hurdles heats. A month ago, the 21-year-old Fourie smashed the SA 100m hurdles record at a World Athletics Continental Tour meeting in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The previous record belonged to co-competitor, Bieldt.

Zeney van der Walt will compete in the 400m hurdles semi-finals at 8:25pm. Van der Walt enters the hurdles semi-final after failing to reach the final of the women’s 400m, finishing eighth in heat 1 of the semis on Monday evening.

Thrills, records, and unmissable moments continue on Day 4 of the World Athletics Championships in Budapest!
