Public invited to FEMA Extreme Heat Workshop

FEMA is hosting a virtual workshop tomorrow to raise awareness of the increasing frequency and severity of extreme heat events. Speakers will highlight mitigation best practices across the country and discussing ways o communication extreme heat risks and implications to communities and stakeholders.

Office of Disaster Assistance and Petroleum Management Director Lisa Tuatoo, a member of the FEMA mitigation Framework Leadership Group invites the public, businesses and community organizations to take part in the online workshop.

She said, “We have experienced unusual hotter weather more frequently than before and it’s important we understand our defense mechanisms provided through this informational event so we are properly prepared. Our unpredictable climate changes are alarming and enhancing our awareness and understanding will greatly help save lives. We need to be prepared throughout the year and be proactive instead of being reactive and it’s too late.”
