Lafaele earns Accredited Fiduciary designation

A member of the American Samoa Government Employees Retirement Fund Board of Directors, Keniseli Lafaele, has earned an Accredited Fiduciary designation from the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems.

He successfully completed a two-day course designed to educate public pension trustees and administrators about best practices for plan governance, oversight, and administration.

In order to earn the Accredited Fiduciary designation, trustees and staff must complete four training modules that cover governance and the board’s role; investment and finance; legal, risk management, and communication; and human capital.

Upon completion of all four modules, candidates must demonstrate mastery of the content through an exam held in June and December each year. Lafaele was one of 7 participants who successfully passed the December exam.

Three other members of the Retirement Fund Board of Directors will attend the next Accredited Fiduciary program next month in Seattle.
