An ava ceremony last night at the Pentagon Samoa compound welcomed teams for the 5th Coca Cola Marist Pago Flag Day International 7s.
Matches start at 9 this morning at the Veterans Memorial Stadium. There are 11 teams from Samoa, 1 from Hawaii and four local teams in the draw.
The total purse for the 2024 7s is $30,000 and the champions will win $13,000 and the Governor Lemanu Cup.
The defending champions are the Marist St Joseph’s team from Samoa.
President of the Marist St Joseph’s Mafutaga American Samoa, Taupau Tau Toluono says 13 referees and a technical team for the tournament are provided by Lakapi Samoa formerly the Samoa Rugby Union.
Two Manu Samoa legends, Lolo Lui and Alapasa Cortz, are here as special guests.
Matches will be today and tomorrow at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.
